PRACTICAL GUIDE

How to use the product datasheet

A product datasheet gives buyers a controlled summary of a standard or configurable product. It is most useful when each property has a label, value, unit and clearly stated condition.

This builder accepts flexible specification rows, so a pump manufacturer can show flow and head while a casting supplier can show weight, grade and dimensional tolerance. It should not replace an approved drawing, test certificate or operating manual.

1

Name the exact product family

Use a model, series or recognised product name and explain what the item does.

2

Structure measurable properties

Enter one property per line as label: value—for example Working pressure: 10 bar.

3

State boundaries

Include applicable standards, available materials, finishes and conditions that require buyer confirmation.

Worked manufacturing example

Example input

Working pressure: 10 bar; Size range: DN15–DN100; Body material: CF8M; Seat leakage: API 598

What produces a useful result

  • Always write units next to numeric values.
  • Use available range instead of one misleading universal value.
  • Reference standards only when the product actually conforms.
  • Mark indicative information that needs drawing confirmation.

Frequently asked questions

What is a product datasheet?

It is a concise technical description of a product family, including its intended use, materials, dimensions, performance properties and relevant standards.

Can a datasheet replace a drawing?

No. Custom components still require a controlled drawing, revision and agreed acceptance criteria.

How should specifications be entered?

Add one property per line using Label: value. Include units and operating conditions where they matter.
